Amendments to the Local Rules become effective October 1, 2012. Those amendments may significantly impact the office practices of many bankruptcy attorneys because the Court is shifting responsibility for distribution of many notices, as well as distribution of Chapter 13 plans and amended plans. The United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana has appointed Judge James K. Coachys to serve as Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Court, effective October 1, 2012.

Updated Fees Effective 12/1/2016
Fees have been updated to match the new fees effective 12/1/2016. An updated Fee Chart is available on the court’s website.
Notice Language Updated re: Filing of Objections
Objection notices issued by the court have been updated to include more detailed language about filing of objections. The following notices have been updated:

Relief from Abandonment
If a trustee seeks relief from abandonment to pursue possible assets, a Motion for Relief from Abandonment with a 14-day objection notice to affected parties must be filed. After the motion is granted, a Report of Possible Assets may be filed.

Child Support Creditor Representatives
A new event is now available to file an Appearance on Behalf of Child Support Creditor. Filing fees are waived for child support creditor representatives, but the appropriate appearance must be filed and attorneys filing electronically are still responsible for sending an email to the Court’s No Fees Department in order to have fees removed.
The Chief Judge of the District Court has signed a revised General Security Order, which became effective 12/19. The most important change is that prohibited items brought to the courthouse will not be held but will be confiscated and destroyed. For further details, click here.
