A filing party is required to show to the Court that proper service was made on all parties of interest to the pleading being filed. View instructions for determining who will receive electronic notice of your filing, and how to generate mailing labels via ECF
The court may refuse consideration of or strike any pleading or paper for which a certificate of service has not been filed or which lacks the information listed below.
Filing Requirements
Use of the Court's sample forms is recommended:
Certificate of Service of Hearing Notice
Certificate of Service - Notice of Corrected Name
Certificate of Service - Notice of Corrected SSN/ITIN
Certificate of Service - Notice of Hearing on Motion to Extend/Impose Automatic Stay
Certificate of Service - Notice to Added Creditors
Certificate of Service - Notice to Post-Petition Creditors
Certificate of Service Regarding Summons
All other Certificate of Service types
Certificates of Service must be signed by the filing party and must identify the following items:
Pleading or paper served
Name and address of each entity served
Manner of service
Date of service
Select Bankruptcy > Miscellaneous
Enter case number. Click Next
Select Certificate of Service from the event list and click Next
Click Next. Or, if joint filing with another attorney, check box and click Next.
Select party and click Next. If party is not listed click Add/ Create New Party
If the attorney/ party association screen appears, click here for more information
Browse to select correct PDF file. Click Next
Select the appropriate radio button and click Next
If you selected the something else radio button:
Click Next at the category selection screen
Check box(es) next to appropriate docket entry to which this filing relates
Click Next
Select the appropriate radio button and click Next
Note for Chapter 11 cases: A further radio button screen will be displayed. Select the appropriate option and click Next. If you chose the Order Approving Disclosure Statement option, you will be prompted to relate your current filing to the Order Approving Disclosure Statement.
If you selected the Other radio button: Add docket text to identify documents that are being submitted and click Next
If
you selected the Notice of Filing of Plan or Amended Plan radio button:
Select the notice of filing of plan
to which your document relates and click Next
If applicable, select prefix text and/ or insert text in text field click Next
Verify final docket text. If correct, click Next to submit and to review Notice of Electronic Filing.
Curing Deficiencies
If the Certificate of Service is deficient, an amended Certificate must be filed prior to the deficiency deadline using the instructions above, or the Certificate of Service and/or pleading to which it relates may be stricken.
